NewsRock stars immortalised in new ad campaignKurt Cobain, Joe Strummer, Joey Ramone and Sid Vicious have been immortalised in a new advertising campaign. The late rock stars all appear as angels wearing Dr. Martens boots in heaven for a Saatchi & Saatchi poster/print campaign. "We wanted to communicate that Dr Martens boots are 'made to last' and we discovered that these idolised musicians wore them," explains writer Andrew Petch. "Showing them still wearing their Docs in heaven dramatised the boots' durability perfectly. And, as images, they feel very iconic." The images have been cleared for use in the UK only, in an arrangement with Corbis, supplier of the original photographs, which have been enhanced by photographer Dimitri Daniloff and retoucher Christophe Huet, reports The Daily Swarm. The Jesus And Mary Chain make live return The Jesus And Mary Chain made their live return last night (April 27) a "secret" Coachella Festival warm-up show. The band played the Glass House in Pomona, California, their first gig since 1998, to prepare for their festival return today (April 28). According to Laist.COM, the group played a "slow but steady" set which saw frontman Jim Reid ask the crowd "happy we're back?". After the crowd cheered, he simply told them to "fuck off" and looked at his drummer. Actress Scarlett Johansson had been rumoured to sing the female vocals on the band's classic 'Just Like Honey' at the gig, however on the night Giant Drag's Annie Hardy filled in. The band are now due to play Coachella itself and NME.COM will be on site bringing you the best coverage from this year's event.
